Here are some pictures of the campus!
There ya have it. I will post more pictures probably later. Those are some of the main buildings on the campus. I will take a picture of the house that we are living in later. We talked alot with Rebecca and Jeremi today and we brainstormed some things that we wanted to accomplish this summer. They are so nice. Jeremi served his mission with Matt Lamm and Rebecca served in my mission. She went home aobut 3 months before I got there, so I never met her but I heard alot about her. They both have the PHD's. They are incredible entrepreneurs and that is why they have been asked to come down and run the academy. It was exciting talking to them and figuring out what they wanted us to do. They have very high hopes for both of us. Or I guess better said: they are excited about us being there and believe that we can do alot of good. They've said multiple times how excited they are about having a married couple here. Jeremi got a little emotional and said how much it will help our marriage and what an incredible experience it will be for the both of us.
They are excited for Tyler's knowledge in website building. They have a very nice camera that they want Tyler to start making videos with. That means that he will travel around with Jeremi to different areas (Mexico City, Puebla, Hidalgo, Guanajuato) and interview alumni who have graduated from here. That will be pretty cool. He will get to meet alot of people and do some traveling around and seeing different parts of the country. He will also interview area seventies and maybe the area presidency here. The videos will be used for recruiting more students, interns, and potential donors. Tyler is trying to learn how to use the camera right now. If he can figure it out tonight then tomorrow he will go with Jeremi and a couple of other MBA guys to Puebla tomorrow and Saturday (thats another state about 2 hours south of here). Tyler will also be doing some teaching and business consulting with people who own their own businesses here. He is very excited about all of this.
As for me there are quite a few things that they want me to do. I will be in charge of the kitchen. So I will help create the menu. I am currently working on kitchen trainings (like sanitation and some things dealing with cooking), a suggestion box, and exercise program, and a health survey that the students can fill out when they get here. All of this will be done by MONDAY! The new students all get here on Monday so we are working hard to get things ready for them. After that I need to come up with material for a health course that will be taught every week. This will include the importance of sanitation, immunizations, diet, hygiene, and physical activity. I am also in charge of starting square foot gardening. I know stop laughing. I am currently reading a book about it! It doesn't seem too hard. It's perfect for people who need food or a way to generate income and don't have a lot of space. Once I get all the materials for the health class Jeremi wants to go down to Oaxaca-it is a state in the very south of mexico, it is also the poorest state in the country-there he wants me to teach the class to about 200-300 people!! So all things considered we are busy. We are both praying that the Lord will strengthen us in all these things and give us the ability to do them. We are both excited for the challenge and more than anything grateful and excited that we get to do it together.
